The Build
The homeowners wanted a modern deck that would stand out from the standard builds in their neighborhood. We used a two-tone approach — warm deck boards with a darker accent border running the perimeter — to create a framed, intentional look that gives the surface visual depth.
Cable railing was chosen specifically because the property backs up to mature trees. The thin horizontal cables virtually disappear, giving the feeling of standing on an open platform in the woods rather than inside a railed enclosure. Combined with the integrated step lighting, the space transitions seamlessly from a daytime sun deck to an evening gathering spot.
